To be eligible for Energy Code Challenge prizes, participant’s professions must involve knowledge and interaction of Pennsylvania energy codes. This includes Pennsylvania certified code officials, HERS Raters, and Builders.
There is no requirement to make any purchase in order to participate in the Energy Code Challenge or access the resources available on the Penn Residential Energy Codes website.
Participants are eligible for Energy Code Challenge prizes only if they work in the following counties in eastern Pennsylvania:
- Berks
- Bucks
- Chester
- Columbia
- Cumberland
- Dauphin
- Delaware
- Lancaster
- Lehigh
- Luzerne
- Lycoming
- Monroe
- Montgomery
- Northampton
- Perry
- Pike
- Philadelphia
- Schuylkill
- Snyder
- Union
- York.
Participants may only win (1) one Energy Code Challenge iPad throughout the duration of the program. Should a participant be named Top Performer of multiple iPad eligible Rounds- the iPad will be awarded to the next Top Performer of that Round who has not won an iPad. iPads are limited to a total of (5) five for the entire program, however should the program end early all iPads are not required to be distributed. In the event of a Top Performer tie, the winner of the iPad will be randomly selected from the tying participants.
Participants may only win (5) five Energy Code Challenge gift cards through the duration of the program. Should a participant be named Top Performer in over (5) five gift card eligible Rounds- the gift cards will be awarded to the next Top Performer of that Month who has not won (5) five gift cards. Gift cards are limited to a total of (22) twenty-two for the entire program, however should the program end early all gift cards are not required to be distributed. In the event of a Top Performer tie, the winner of the gift card will be randomly selected from the tying participants.
Prizes are non-transferable and there is no cash alternative. In the event of a prize being unavailable for any reason Performance Systems Development (PSD) reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value at any time.
In the event that any Prize-winner fails to reply to a Prize Notification within 30 days, Performance Systems Development (PSD) reserves the right to disqualify the Prize-winner and select an alternative Prize-winner.
Level and activity badges can be earned on an ongoing basis by earning points and participating in different Energy Code Challenge activities. Each activity has a set number of required participation actions that need to be fulfilled before you’re awarded that activity’s badge, while level badges are awarded when enough points are earned to advance to the next level.

Please note that PSD reserves the right to remove any post that is unlawful, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, vulgar, obscene, may cause personal distress, offensive, hateful, racially, sexually or otherwise discriminatory or post any information that is otherwise (in the absolute discretion of PSD) objectionable.
Performance Systems Development (PSD) will use any personal information that you provide within your profile for the sole purposes of the Energy Code Challenge, including the distribution of regular email updates/newsletters to participants regarding top activities within the Energy Code Challenge.
Performance Systems Development (PSD) reserves the right to disqualify any participant if it has reasonable grounds to believe that they have breached any of the terms outlined above. Each participant acknowledges and agrees that any failure to comply with the terms could lead to PSD disqualifying that person, without PSD giving any reason for such disqualification or granting any opportunity for challenge.
The Energy Code Challenge is scheduled to run from August 1st, 2015 through May 1st, 2016. However, programing is subject to change, and can be ended at any time per the discretion of the Penn Residential Energy Codes management team.
The Energy Code Challenge aims to better engage code officials, HERS raters, builders, and other construction industry professionals throughout the educational process of the Penn Residential Energy Codes program. Points, badges, and prizes will be awarded for participation in educational activities such as in-person trainings, webinars, watching videos, reading articles, checking out the energy code Toolkit, using the E-Code Assistant App, posting in our discussion forum, and taking short quizzes!
